Ohio City Passes Resolution Urging Time Warner to Carry NFL Network
10/02/2007
Willowick City Council and its Mayor have voted unanimously to approve a resolution urging Time Warner Cable to carry the NFL Network.
In the resolution, the city council cites residents’ demand for year-round programming like Hall of Fame Ceremonies in Canton, exclusive Browns’ minicamp and training camp coverage, as well as extensive NFL Draft access as reasoning for Time Warner to carry the channel. The council also urges Time Warner to negotiate a solution with the NFL Network in time for eight late-season games being carried by the network.
As residents of northeast Ohio are familiar, Browns fans are some of the most passionate in the NFL, having sold out Cleveland Browns Stadium since the team’s return in 1999 despite multiple years of losing records. These devoted fans deserve year-round 24.7 access to football, and Time Warner is the largest cable provider in Ohio.
Willowick, located in northeast Ohio, is about 16 miles east of downtown Cleveland.
